Summer Bishil Bio

 Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). When she turned three years young, her family moved to the United States. Summer went to American as well as British schools, while her family was living abroad. She returned to Pasadena shortly before her 14th birthday. Enticed by the thought of being an actor since the age of five, Summer took her first acting class at the age 14. Nine months later, Summer was signed by an agent and an manager and began to pursue her dream full-time. In her spare time she goes to college and is striving to complete her degree. One of the young stars who were featured in the cover of Vanity Fair's article, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was selected as one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil started acting lessons at age fourteen. Within one year, she signed a contract with an agent and manager. Bishil started her career on the Nickelodeon TV show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed to the contract of a manager and agency. Her breakout role came in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same title. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most authentic in a film that with all its great intentions, is completely fake and a little embarrassing, much like an extended PSA concerning inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss, who writes for various Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the most natural film actresses to emerge in recent times." Gary Goldstein in a September 12 Los Angeles Times review of the film Towelhead stated that "...newcomer Summer Bishil turns in a strong, nimble, captivating performance in the role of Jasira. In 2009, she directed Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was not made.
